The Town of High Prairie is now part of the Recycle My Cell program

Most of us have owned on average three or four cell phones prior to our current one. That means that a lot of us likely have a slew of old devices that are either getting hidden away in junk drawers or disposed of incorrectly.

The Town of High Prairie has joined Recycle My Cell, Canada's free cell phone recycling program, making it easy to dispose of your old devices responsibly. A drop off box is located in the Town Office foyer, where old wireless devices and their accessories will be accepted, regardless of brand or condition. After your device is received, it is sent to a processor where it can be refurbished or broken down and recycled.

safety first

The Town of High Prairie Enforcement Services would like to remind the community that 53rd Avenue is only a two lane highway, with designated parking areas on the left and right side. Any passing/overtaking on the right is considered an offence (punishable by a violation ticket - $233.00) and more importantly, is extremely dangerous. This means if you are waiting behind a vehicle making a left hand turn, you must wait until the vehicle has turned before proceeding. There is a high risk of pedestrian and vehicle collisions when this is done.
If you have any questions ore require more information, please feel free to contact Enforcement Services at 780-523-3388.

Thank you for your cooperation,
Town of High Prairie Enforcement Services "Committed to Community Safety"

High Prairie's real development began as a result of the railroad being built through High Prairie and toward Winagami Lake. In 1945 High Prairie became formally recognized as a village and by 1950 there was a motion carried that it apply for Town status.

Through the years, the infrastructure in High Prairie has continued to expand. The installation of modern services began in 1953 with the construction of a domestic piped water system. In June 1958, the arena, which is still a major recreation facility, was completed. Since then other recreation facilities have been added, such as a curling rink with artificial ice, a second ice surface, an indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, baseball diamonds, and walking trails throughout High Prairie's parks.

By the 1960's the streets of High Prairie began to be paved and by the 1980's a new reservoir and settling tank provided good clear drinking water. High Prairie is a thriving community with all the modern amenities available to its citizens. With the base that has already been established, it is expected that High Prairie will continue to grow and prosper for a long time to come.

Vision Statement:
High Prairie is a vibrant, prosperous diverse community we are proud to call home.

Mission Statement:
Town of High Prairie – Committed to you – ensuring a lifestyle unrivalled, second to none.
